Fiona Cairns Flashback: A Year in Review
Article - 24 December 2019

Introduction

What a wonderful year it’s been! A lot happened in 2019 and we can’t believe it’s almost over; this year has certainly whizzed by! We have loads of things to celebrate and we’d love to share them with all of you who have been supporting us. So sit back, grab a slice of cake, and let’s take a look at our highlights…

And We’re Live!

We kicked off the year with a brand new website, complete with a new range of cakes, biscuits and gifts, perfect for all your special days. We especially love the photography and hope that it has inspired you to round up a tea-party or add something special to your little one’s birthday party! You particularly loved our undecorated cakes so we know we have some creative cake decorators among us!

Celebrating with Charity

Over the years Fiona Cairns have collaborated with multiple local charities, and this year was no different as our whole team got involved in loads of special days and fundraisers. From our bespoke cake for Rainbows 25th year fun day, Marie Curie bake sale, and Save The Children Christmas Jumper Day, we’ve made loads of memories and helped to raise over £4290. We hope you’ve all got involved in some way too and look forward to giving back next year!

A Wedding for the Ages

A beautiful bride and groom, a stunning bespoke dress, a wonderful venue and lets not forget the cake! Our team carefully baked and matured this special cake months in advance, whilst painstakingly making delicate sugar flowers to adorn the 8 tiered creation to match Lady Gabriella’s bouquet. We were very honoured to be asked to be a part of this amazing day and it will certainly be remembered for a very long time. Click here to read our story.

And the Winner is…

Our fruit cakes are something that we are particularly proud of, and is a Fiona Cairns classic, so we are extremely pleased to have been voted as winner for Good Food’s Christmas Taste Awards 2019 in the Christmas cake category. After loads (and loads!) of practice, development, taste tests and baking, we believe we have the perfect recipe. Here’s what Good Food had to say: “This mature, deeply-flavoured Christmas cake ticked all the boxes. Not only is it nutty, boozy, packed with plump fruit, heavy with citrus and nicely spiced, it also has – according to our judges – the perfect ratio of icing, marzipan and cake.” Why not try some for yourself?

Christmas 2019’s Mascot

Undoubtedly the Christmas mascot of 2019 was Excitable Edgar! His attempts to join in and spread some love and joy weren’t always successful but we have really enjoyed making him into tasty fairy cakes and gingerbread biscuits. We’ve seen a few of these little treats still hiding in stores so don’t forget to keep an eye out!

Thank you to you all

Most importantly we have enjoyed getting to be a part of your special days throughout the entire year: from birthday parties, anniversaries, weddings and expecting mothers treats, we hope you’ve enjoyed all of our sponges, fruit cakes, biscuits and luxurious rose gourmand bathing goods. Everyone here at Fiona Cairns extends their best wishes to you all and we hope you have a Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year. Time for an other cup of tea we think!
